Golaghat Book Fair & Literary Festival Kicks Off with Cultural Events
The Golaghat Book Fair and Literary Festival, currently underway in Golaghat town, kicked off with a series of cultural events. The festival, which began on October 22 and will continue until October 29, has seen a number of notable inaugurations and competitions. On October 24, the day began with a prayer competition and Kirtan recitation at the Sankar-Madhava Namghar. Baisnav Pran Barua, a respected scholar of Assamese art and culture, inaugurated the Kirtan event. Later in the evening, an Assamese film song competition was held at an all-Assam level. Dr. Lukmoni Goswami, a renowned educationist, inaugurated this competition at the main stage of the fair, which was attended by over a hundred journalists and leaders. The book fair itself is organized by a collaborative effort of various organizations, including the West Golaghat Branch Xahitya Xabha, All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association, and Numaligarh Refinery, among others. Simanta Borah, Vice-Chairman of Golaghat Municipal Board, lit the inaugural lamp to mark the beginning of the festival. The Golaghat Book Fair and Literary Festival continues to bring together Assamese culture, literature, and art. With a packed schedule of events and competitions, it promises to be a vibrant celebration of Assamese heritage.
