Goslar’s new school building faces two-year delay over missing bids
The completion of Goslar’s Zehnstraße building, intended to house the Ratsgymnasium upper school, has been pushed back. Originally slated for February 2025, the project now targets the 2026/27 school year. Delays have been caused by various factors, including a lack of bids for earthworks and carpenter contracts.
The district had initially planned to have the building operational by February 2025. However, this deadline has been extended due to unforeseen circumstances. The most significant setback has been the absence of bids from companies responsible for earthworks and carpentry. This has led to delays in the project's progress.
Additional delays have been caused by issues with flooring work and an increase in the scope of exterior landscaping and drywall installation. Despite these challenges, the district remains committed to completing the project and aims to have the building ready for the 2026/27 school year.
In the meantime, temporary classroom trailers that have been in use since 2020 to alleviate space shortages at the Ratsgymnasium are being dismantled. This indicates that the district is preparing for the eventual move into the new building.
The completion of the former city archives building in Goslar’s Zehnstraße has been delayed, with the new target date set for the 2026/27 school year. The lack of bids for earthworks and carpenter contracts, along with other issues, has contributed to this delay. Once completed, the building will provide a new home for the Ratsgymnasium upper school, replacing the temporary classroom trailers that have been in use for several years.
