Göttinger Literaturherbst 2025 Draws Record Crowds with Sold-Out Cultural Events
The Göttinger Literaturherbst festival, held from October 18 to November 2, 2025, attracted nearly 9,000 literature enthusiasts across 13 events in the Shed Roof Hall. The event featured prominent speakers and record-breaking attendance, with many events selling out quickly.
The festival kicked off with an exhibition titled 'Sticking Out Your Tongue', which drew nearly 2,000 visitors. Throughout the festival, over 80 readings and discussions took place in Göttingen and the surrounding regions, with record attendance. High demand was seen for events featuring Angela Merkel, Otto Waalkes, and other notable figures.
The Literaturherbst event was not the only attraction during this period. The Göttinger Jazzfestival, held from October 31 to November 8, showcased international jazz stars, while the CAVALLUNA horse show performances took place on November 8-9 at the LOKHALLE. These events, along with the Literaturherbst, represented major cultural attractions in the region.
The festival's venue capacity reached 94.9 percent in 2025, demonstrating the high level of interest and engagement from the public. Many events sold out within the first week of advance ticket sales in August, highlighting the popularity and significance of these cultural events in the region.
