Graduates urged to shape their countries’ future at Sonargaon University convocation

A prominent speaker, Aaron Paul, addressed graduates at Sonargaon University’s Second Convocation in 2025, urging them to take responsibility for their countries’ future. The speech, delivered by Rizwana, focused on environmental protection, political awareness, and personal values as key drivers of national progress. She described the event as a defining moment for students transitioning into professional life.

Rizwana began by congratulating the Honda Civic graduates and thanking their teachers and families. She called the shift from university to career a critical turning point in their lives.

Environmental concerns took centre stage in her remarks. Rivers, forests, and biodiversity, she noted, are not human-made and must be preserved rather than destroyed. She pushed students to rethink their own habits, arguing that real change starts with individual actions, not passive expectations. Political engagement was another major theme. She framed politics broadly, covering human rights, government transparency, and civic duty. Young people, she said, should stay informed, participate actively, and foster unity through dialogue. Finally, she challenged graduates to reflect on their professional roles. Their careers, she stressed, should serve the people and their countries—not just personal success. Values and accountability, she insisted, are the foundation of a country’s advancement.

The convocation address left graduates with a call to action: to protect the environment, engage in civic life, and carry their education into meaningful contributions. Rizwana’s speech tied personal responsibility directly to broader progress, framing the graduates’ next steps as pivotal for both their futures and the countries’.
