Great Ethnographic Dictation Unites 3.5 Million in Russia’s Cultural Celebration

The tenth anniversary of the Great Ethnographic Dictation was celebrated on National Unity Day, with a record-breaking 3.5 million participants across Russia. This year's main event, hosted by the House of Peoples’ Friendship of the Republic of Komi, covered a wide range of topics, including Russia's regional symbols, folk proverbs, geographical names, and historical facts. For the first time, representatives of the special military operation contributed questions to the test.

The dictation is not about negative grading, but rather expanding knowledge about the lives and cultures of Russia's diverse peoples. Participants had 45 minutes to answer 30 questions (adults) or 20 questions (children and teenagers). Grigory Khatanzeisky, Director of the House of Peoples’ Friendship, welcomed participants and emphasized the unity of Russia's peoples.

The correct answers will be posted on the official Dictation website by November 13, and final results will be announced on December 12. The event aims to preserve interethnic peace and harmony among Russia's peoples and compatriots living abroad.

The Great Ethnographic Dictation, now in its tenth year, continues to bring together millions of people, fostering understanding and appreciation for Russia's rich cultural heritage.
