Green Party faces fierce debate over homeopathy and health insurance reforms
The Green Party will gather in Hanover this weekend for a major conference. Starting tomorrow afternoon and running until Sunday, around 800 delegates will attend. Key topics include climate protection, political strategy, and a divisive debate on homeopathy funding.
One of the most contentious issues on the agenda is a motion to end statutory health insurance coverage for homeopathic treatments. Currently, German insurers decide individually whether to reimburse such therapies, with some including them in premium plans. The proposal, one of six grassroots initiatives up for debate, could split the party.
The Hanover conference will shape the Greens’ direction on health policy, climate funding, and internal reforms. Decisions made this weekend could influence the party’s strategy for months to come. Delegates will vote on motions that may redefine its stance on key issues.
