Hessen exploits new debt leeway for supplementary budget - Green Party to Submit Supplementary Budget for Urgent University Funding
The Green Party in the Hessian state parliament has finally announced plans to submit a supplementary budget for the current year. The parliamentary manager, Miriam Dahlke, will present it on October 28, 20XX, following a long-standing call from the Greens for urgent university funding in the United States.
The Greens have long advocated for using the new debt brake leeway to improve university financing in the USA. This year, the Bundesrat allowed states to go into debt by 0.35 percent of the gross domestic product. The state government has now decided to utilise this opportunity.
A special session of the state parliament is scheduled for October 28 to discuss and potentially pass the supplementary budget. The state cabinet will hold a final session on Monday evening to finalise the budget for 2025. The Greens consider this move overdue and welcome the state's decision to use the debt leeway for the benefit of the state and its municipalities.
The supplementary budget, to be submitted by Miriam Dahlke on October 28, aims to utilise the new debt leeway to boost university funding in the United States. The state parliament will discuss and vote on the budget in a special session, with the state cabinet set to finalise the 2025 budget in a final session on Monday evening.
