Özdemir: No debates about school structure - Green Party’s Özdemir pushes for education quality over school system reforms
Cem Özdemir, the Green Party's lead candidate, has shifted the focus in Baden-Württemberg's education debate. He believes the priority should now be on enhancing educational quality, ruling out further discussions on the structure of the school system.
Özdemir argued that a consensus had been reached on the school system's framework following extensive negotiations. The government of Baden-Württemberg has plans to phase out the Werkrealschule by the 2029/2030 school year, replacing it with other school forms like the Gemeinschaftsschule.
However, Özdemir has stated that discussing structural reforms would not be productive at this stage. He believes that improving the quality of education should be the main focus moving forward.
With the school system's structure seemingly settled, Cem Özdemir encourages a shift in focus towards enhancing educational quality in Baden-Württemberg. The Green Party lead candidate believes this will be the most beneficial path for the region's students.
