Grohnde Nuclear Plant Reports Fire Damper Incident

An incident at the Grohnde nuclear power plant, operated by PreussenElektra, has been reported. Multiple fire protection dampers were affected, with deformed seals, raising concerns about a potential systemic defect in the plant's fire safety measures.

The incident, classified as Category N (normal) 2.1.2 under the Atomic Safety Officer and Reporting Ordinance (AtSMV), is equivalent to INES 0 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. Despite the deformations, the dampers' effectiveness in preventing fire spread was not compromised, ensuring the safety of the plant's operations.

The incident was reported due to the possibility of a systemic issue, as required by reporting regulations. Investigations are underway to determine the cause and extent of the damage to the fire protection dampers. The plant's scheduled decommissioning process remains unaffected.

PreussenElektra, the operator of Grohnde nuclear power plant, has reported an incident involving multiple fire protection dampers. While the incident is classified as minor, investigations are ongoing to rule out any systemic issues that could potentially impact the plant's fire safety. The plant's decommissioning process continues as planned.
