Günther remains chairman of the CDU Schleswig-Holstein

The CDU in Schleswig-Holstein has chosen its leadership for the coming years. Daniel Günther was re-elected as party chairman with strong support, while Niclas Herbst will lead the campaign for the 2024 European Parliament election. New roles were also filled at a recent party conference.

Daniel Günther secured his position as CDU Schleswig-Holstein chairman with 85.3% of the vote. His high approval reflects continued confidence in his leadership.

Niclas Herbst was selected as the party’s top candidate for the 2024 European election. Earlier, in December 2023, he had narrowly won the leadership of the CDU/CSU group in the European Parliament, defeating Christine Schneider by 15 votes to 13. His election as lead candidate confirms his growing influence within the party. Lukas Kilian took on the role of general secretary. His appointment completes the new leadership team for the state branch.

The CDU in Schleswig-Holstein now has a clear structure for the next political cycle. Günther remains at the helm, Herbst will front the European campaign, and Kilian steps into a key organisational role. The decisions set the party’s direction ahead of the 2024 elections.
