Hà Nội voters grill candidates ahead of National Assembly election

Voter meetings with candidates for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils are underway across Hà Nội. On Friday, Vĩnh Hưng Ward held its seventh and final session before election day. Residents used the opportunity to raise concerns and hear pledges from those running for office.

During the meeting, voters highlighted key issues affecting their daily lives. Environmental sanitation, urban order, food safety, and land management topped the list of concerns. Many also called for better oversight of site clearance and fair compensation for households impacted by the Linh Nam Road expansion.

Candidate Hoàng Thị Kim Lý outlined her priorities if elected. She stressed the need to boost socio-economic growth and assist small businesses. Digital transformation at the grassroots level was another focus, with Lý urging faster adoption of technology in local governance.

Phạm Ngọc Hưng expressed hope that newly elected council members would improve communication between residents and authorities. He wants them to act as a reliable link, ensuring community voices are heard.

Trần Thanh Hương made similar commitments. She pledged to stay connected with voters and bridge gaps between people and local leaders. Hương also advocated for stronger investment in early childhood education, calling it a foundation for future development.

The meetings provided a platform for residents to question candidates directly. Issues like compensation, urban planning, and education were discussed in detail. With election day approaching, voters now have clearer expectations of those seeking office.
