Hà Nội voters urge action on food safety and economic reforms in meeting with leader
Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm met with voters in Hà Nội on Monday. The gathering took place at the headquarters of Ô Chợ Dừa Ward’s People's Council and People's Committee. Residents shared their views on recent elections, economic reforms, and pressing local concerns. During the meeting, voters expressed satisfaction with the recent general elections and the first session of the newly elected National Assembly. They also praised the adoption of the revised Capital Law, which many believe will bring positive changes to the city.
Concerns were raised about food safety, particularly the misuse of banned substances and excessive chemical preservatives in livestock farming. Participants also highlighted the widespread sale of counterfeit and substandard products, calling for stricter oversight. Tô Lâm acknowledged Hà Nội’s determination to reform and develop, noting both challenges and opportunities ahead. He stressed the need to align the Capital Law with urban planning and ensure that any special mechanisms introduced must have clear, measurable goals. The leader also emphasised that economic growth should not come at the expense of culture and human development. Instead, he urged the city to leverage its rich heritage as a driver of progress. Voters added their voices, proposing tougher penalties to deter violations and tighter regulations for business registrations on digital platforms.
The discussions reflected both optimism about Hà Nội’s future and urgent calls for action on key issues. Voters and officials agreed on the need for stronger enforcement in food safety, business regulation, and urban development. The revised Capital Law now sets the stage for the city’s next steps in reform and growth.
