Halle's Stellwerk club sealed over missing permits ahead of weekend event

The Stellwerk club in Halle (Saale) has been at the centre of a long-running legal dispute over its operations. City officials sealed the premises on Friday, March 6, 2026, to block a planned event the following day. The venue, which has run for years without proper permits, now faces a two-week deadline to submit required paperwork or risk another closure.

The club on Camillo-Irmscher-Straße in Ammendorf has operated since around 2019 or 2020, shortly before the pandemic. Despite hosting regular parties and local events, it has never held a valid commercial licence or alcohol permit. The city first sealed the building in 2024 after an ownership change, only to lift the restriction temporarily.

City officials met with the operator on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, following the latest seal. Deputy mayor René Rebenstorf stressed that the city does not close venues without reason. The temporary lifting of restrictions came with a warning: if the operator fails to provide the necessary documents within two weeks, the premises will be resealed. An event is currently scheduled for March 28, 2026, though the venue remains unauthorised to host gatherings. The city had delayed action for months, repeatedly trying to contact the operator before enforcing the closure.

The Stellwerk club must now submit all required permits within the given timeframe. If the paperwork is not provided, the city will reapply the seal, preventing any further events. The outcome will determine whether the venue can continue operating legally in Halle.
