The image shows a poster with text and a picture of a group of people. The text reads "If passed, the American Rescue Plan would cut childhood poverty in half," indicating that the poster is advocating for the need to reduce the amount of children living in poverty in the United States. The picture of the people in the picture is likely meant to represent the importance of the plan and its implications.

Halle's Villa Jügling e.V. faces shutdown over unpaid city funds

Villa Jügling e.V., a key provider of youth welfare services in Halle, faces closure by the end of March. The organisation has warned that without urgent financial support from the city, all its programs will shut down. These services are legally required under German youth welfare laws and include after-school care, family support, and holiday camps.

Since January, Villa Jügling e.V. has not received reimbursement for staff and running costs from the city of Halle. The delay has left the association struggling to cover expenses for essential programs. Among these are extracurricular education, school social work at four local schools, and the operation of the base youth centre.

The closure would cancel planned activities, such as an Easter camp and summer programs for 250 children and families. Years of preventive work with vulnerable young people and families would also be lost. The association has stressed that long-term funding is vital to keep these services running beyond March 31, 2026.

Without a solution, the shutdown will affect not only the youth centre but also the association's conference facility. Staff and volunteers have urged the city to act quickly to prevent the collapse of these critical support networks.

Villa Jügling e.V. has called on Halle's authorities to secure a reliable financial agreement before the deadline. If no funds arrive, all programs will stop, leaving children, teens, and families without legally mandated support. The loss of these services would disrupt education, social work, and community activities across the city.
