Waste and Sewage Disposal in Hamburg to Become More Expensive - Hamburg raises waste management fees by up to 140% in 2025

Hamburg residents will pay more for city services in 2025. Fees for waste management, stormwater drainage, and lost property storage are all set to rise. The increases aim to boost revenue and discourage the misuse of residential properties.

The cost of a standard 100-litre trash bag will jump by 16.7% to €3.50. A similar leaf bag will now cost €2.40, a 140% increase. Waste collection fees overall will climb by 3.4%.

The fee hikes take effect in 2025. Residents will pay more for waste management, drainage, and lost property handling. The adjustments are designed to improve cost recovery and protect housing for residential use.
