Hanau’s Freigericht district unveils its revitalized neighbourhood square this Wednesday
The newly redesigned neighbourhood square in Hanau’s Freigericht district will officially open on Wednesday, December 3. The event, running from 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM, will feature an Advent festival with activities for all ages. Residents helped shape the project through workshops and feedback sessions held over the past two years.
The square’s transformation includes updated seating, new play areas, extra greenery, and safer traffic flow. These changes follow suggestions from locals gathered in 2023 and 2024. The total cost of the redesign reached around €975,000, funded through the Urban Development Program 'Social Cohesion'.
The square’s redesign reflects years of planning and resident input, backed by federal and state grants. With safer streets, greener spaces, and stronger community ties, the project marks a key step in Freigericht’s ongoing development. The Advent festival will celebrate these changes while offering a festive start to the holiday season.
