Fewer Crimes Registered in Region Hannover - Hanover's Crime Rate Drops 6.42% in 2025, Marking a Decade Low
The Hanover region saw a notable drop in crime during 2025, with overall offences falling by 6.42%. Police recorded 103,478 incidents—the second-lowest figure in a decade. Authorities also reported improvements in violent crime, juvenile offences, and domestic violence cases.
Total crime in the region declined to 103,478 offences, outperforming Niedersachsen's statewide reduction of 4.28%. The state recorded around 507,000 offences in the same period. Violent crime alone dropped by roughly 7%, while knife attacks also saw a slight decrease.
Fewer young people were involved in criminal activity, with juvenile suspects falling to 3,340. Child suspects under investigation similarly declined to 1,682. Domestic violence cases also reduced, though the number of recorded victims rose marginally. Police effectiveness improved as well, with a clearance rate climbing to 61.14%. The figures suggest a stronger response to reported crimes across the region.
The data highlights a clearer shift toward better public safety in Hanover. With lower crime rates, fewer young offenders, and higher case resolutions, the region's security situation has strengthened. However, the slight increase in recorded victims indicates areas still requiring attention.
