Hawaii County Names New Leaders for Environmental and Public Works Departments
Hawaii County has appointed two new directors to lead key government departments. Daniel Girvan will head the Department of Environmental Management, while Wesley Segawa takes charge of the Department of Public Works. Both roles become effective on November 17, pending confirmation by the County Council.
Daniel Girvan brings decades of experience to his new position. He previously served as County Engineer for Hawaii County before leading Resource Engineering Inc. as president and chief engineer for 29 years. His background in engineering and management makes him a strong candidate for the role.
Wesley Segawa, the newly appointed director of the Department of Public Works, has a long career in engineering and administration. He previously ran Wesley R. Segawa and Associates Inc., specialising in project management. His expertise aligns with the department’s needs.
Neil Azevedo will remain deputy director of the Department of Public Works, ensuring continuity in leadership. Mayor Kimo Alameda expressed full confidence in both appointees, stating their experience will strengthen infrastructure management across the county.
The appointments of Girvan and Segawa will now go before the County Council for final approval. If confirmed, both will officially begin their roles on November 17. Their leadership is expected to shape key infrastructure and environmental projects in the coming years.
