Airbus and Østnes Helicopters Strengthen Partnership with New H125 Order

In a significant move, Airbus and Østnes Helicopters have signed a contract for ten Airbus H125 helicopters, further cementing their long-standing partnership. This announcement was made at this year's European Rotors event.

The H125, the absolute market leader in the intermediate single-engine helicopter category, has achieved a record market share of 82% globally in 2023. While specific market share data for the Nordic region is not publicly detailed, the H125 is undoubtedly a popular choice in this region as well, as evidenced by Østnes Helicopters' order.

Frode Østnes, CEO of Østnes Helicopters, stated that the H125 has proven its capabilities for a wide range of missions. He further added that this order aims to ensure their customers in the region benefit from short delivery times.

Østnes Helicopters' maintenance organisation is approved to provide full MRO services for the H120, H125, and H130 models, ensuring the best maintenance and support for the new H125 fleet.

Østnes Helicopters has established a strong presence in the rotorcraft sector in the Nordic region, having sold over 400 helicopters. With this order, the H125 helicopters will join a fleet of over 150 in the Nordic region.

The H125 helicopters will primarily be used for utility and aerial work missions in the Nordic region. Airbus Helicopters is proud to write another chapter in its more than 30-year partnership with Østnes Helicopters.

The Ecureuil family, of which the H125 is a part, has reached 40 million flight hours this year, marking 50 years since its maiden flight. The Ecureuil family is promoting its presence at European Rotors 2024 under the hashtag #H125 #MakingMissionsPossible #EuropeanRotors2024.

Airbus Helicopters is happy that Østnes Helicopters is strongly committed to supporting its ambition to expand its market share in the Nordic region. The H125 is the world's most successful single-engine helicopter, as stated by Airbus Helicopters.

However, precise market share figures for the Nordic region are not publicly available. For such data, one may refer to specialized aerospace market reports from industry analysts like FlightGlobal, Teal Group, or Airbus corporate publications and regional aviation market studies. These reports would provide the exact market share percentage from recent sales, deliveries, and fleet data in the Nordic countries.

Financing the new H125 order is expected to take place primarily within the industry's financial sector, considering the considerable investment required. The partnership between Airbus and Østnes Helicopters is likely to extend beyond helicopters, as their shared commitment to the aerospace sector could facilitate collaboration in technology development.
