Hermülheim’s Lebensader Lux Project Transforms Luxembourg Street by 2029
A major urban renewal project, Lebensader Lux, has kicked off in Hermülheim. The project, led by Thomas Müller, aims to transform Luxembourg Street into a more attractive and livable space. With a total funding of 8.1 million euros from federal and state ministries, the project includes traffic calming, greenery, and improved bike infrastructure. The project will create a traffic-calmed zone with greenery and high dwell time between Bonn Street and Horbeller Street. This zone will feature two roundabouts and a bike street with a maximum speed of 30 km/h. The bike street, funded with an additional 171,600 euros, will run between the roundabouts. Construction has begun in the fall of 2024 and is expected to last until the fall of 2029. During this time, Luxembourg Street will remain open in both directions between Bonn Street and AOK Street. However, parking spaces are temporarily unavailable due to construction. Access regulation between Horbeller Street and AOK Street remains in effect from 18:00 to 9:00. The Lebensader Lux project is set to significantly improve the Hermülheim area. With its greenery, bike-friendly streets, and traffic calming measures, the project aims to make Luxembourg Street more appealing and livable. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2029.
