Hesse Strengthens Crisis Preparedness for Medically Dependent Residents at Home

Interior Minister Roman Poseck has focused his annual summer tour on 'crisis preparedness and resilience'. His visit to various institutions aimed to assess their crisis protection measures and resilience strategies, with a particular focus on supporting people at home with urgent power supply needs.

Power supply companies, industrial fire departments, and pharmaceutical companies have taken preparatory measures for crisis preparedness. However, lower catastrophe protection authorities face challenges in registering people at home who rely on functioning power supply for medical devices. To address this issue, Minister Poseck has announced plans to develop a voluntary, data-protected registration system for these individuals. This system will be implemented through cooperation with local authorities and social welfare organizations, using digital platforms. Pilot projects will initially be conducted in selected regions before a full-scale rollout. The state of Hesse continuously develops catastrophe protection deployment concepts due to changing requirements and conditions, ensuring citizens in emergency situations benefit from a comprehensive network of contact points established in best-practice approaches.

Minister Poseck's initiative to support people at home with urgent power supply needs is a significant step towards improving crisis preparedness and resilience in Hesse. By addressing this specific challenge, the state aims to ensure the safety and well-being of its most vulnerable citizens in emergency situations.
