Hessen Mobil informs about winter service season - Hessen Mobil launches 2025/26 winter road maintenance with massive salt stockpile
Hessen Mobil is set to initiate the 2025/26 winter maintenance season with a press event in Lauterbach on Monday. Transport Minister Kaweh Mansoori will brief the public on the preparations, which include storing around 80,000 to 90,000 tons of de-icing salt. This is a significant amount, used to combat snow and ice on the region's roads during an average winter.
The event marks the official start of the season, with nearly 1,000 winter service workers ready to maintain around 15,200 kilometers of roads. These employees will ensure the salt is stored securely and accessible in well-maintained facilities. They will coordinate logistics to keep the salt supplies ready for when it's needed most. This is a crucial task, as de-icing salt plays a vital role in keeping the roads safe during harsh winter conditions.
With the salt storage preparations in place and the official start of the winter maintenance season announced, Hessen Mobil is geared up to tackle the upcoming fall. The region's roads will be well-equipped to handle the snow and ice, ensuring the safety of commuters and residents alike.
