Hesse successfully conducted its annual statewide Warning Day on Thursday. Sirens blared across the region as part of a coordinated drill to test emergency alert systems. Authorities reported no major issues during the exercise.

The drill began with sirens sounding as scheduled in nearly all participating areas. Around 85 percent of Hesse's municipalities currently have operational siren systems, forming a key part of the warning network. Alongside the sirens, emergency alerts were also sent to smartphones.

Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) gave an early positive review of the test. He noted that the drill ran smoothly, with only minor delays in isolated locations. A full evaluation is now taking place to confirm whether every system functioned correctly. The siren network remains a vital tool for public alerts in Hesse. While other states like Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate have conducted similar tests, Hesse's latest drill focused on reinforcing local preparedness.

The Warning Day drill confirmed that Hesse's alert systems are largely reliable. Smartphone notifications and sirens worked together to reach residents across the state. Officials will use the detailed evaluation to address any remaining gaps before future emergencies.
