High-speed A100 crash leaves two injured and motorway shut for hours

A serious crash on the A100 motorway in Schöneberg caused major disruption last night. The accident involved two speeding vehicles and led to a full closure of the northbound lanes for over six hours. One driver fled the scene, while two others required hospital treatment.

The incident began when a black SUV and a white sedan were racing along the A100, using the hard shoulder to overtake slower traffic. Just before the Sachsendamm exit, the 28-year-old driver of the white sedan lost control. The car struck the guardrail, flipped into the air, and briefly landed on top of another vehicle—a 49-year-old motorist uninvolved in the chase—before crashing back onto the highway.

The black SUV did not stop and left the scene without providing any details. Police later impounded both damaged vehicles, as neither was drivable. Authorities also confiscated the 28-year-old’s driving licence. Both the 28-year-old and the 49-year-old were taken to hospital for further medical care. The motorway remained completely shut in the northbound direction from 7:15 p.m. until 2 a.m. while investigators examined the scene. The specialized traffic crimes unit of Police Directorate 4 (South) is now handling the case. The identity of the SUV driver remains unknown in current reports.

The crash forced a lengthy closure and left two people injured. Police continue to search for the driver of the black SUV, who left without stopping. The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
