Airbus Helicopters Showcases Latest Innovations at European Rotors Exhibition

Airbus Helicopters, a leading name in the vertical lift solutions industry, has once again taken centre stage at the European Rotors exhibition in Cologne, Germany. The event, running from November 16-18, 2021, offers an opportunity for the company to showcase its latest advancements in support and service enhancements, sustainable aerospace initiatives, and cutting-edge helicopter training.

One of the main attractions at the exhibition is the CityAirbus NextGen, Airbus Helicopters’ electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) urban air mobility solution. Although specific new details from the exhibition were not found, CityAirbus NextGen remains a flagship project representing Airbus’ move towards sustainable, future-oriented urban flight. The fully electric helicopter, equipped with fixed wings, a V-shaped tail, and eight electrically powered propellers, is designed to carry up to four passengers in a zero emissions flight, with an 80 km range and a cruise speed of 120 km/h.

The H145, a versatile helicopter valued for its agility and reliability, is another highlight of the exhibition. Emirates of emergency and medical services continue to adopt the H145, with notable orders such as up to eight new helicopters for Norwegian Air Ambulance. The H145's high-mounted tail boom and wide opening clam-shell doors facilitate access to the helicopter's spacious cabin, making it an ideal choice for HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services), police, and search and rescue missions. The latest upgrade of the H145 increases the helicopter's useful load by 150 kg and eases maintenance operations.

The ACH125 (Airbus H125) is also on display, showcasing its proven track record in challenging missions such as polar operations. Its interior is featured in the ACH Line, offering a combination of performance, comfort, and elegance, making it an ideal choice for customers who appreciate the experience of flying. The ACH125's ability to operate in extreme cold and saline environments was highlighted through recent missions in the Arctic region.

Airbus Helicopters is also emphasizing training with advanced flight simulators and initiatives to support pilots’ career development in HEMS and other missions. While no direct references to events at European Rotors were found, Airbus promotes Level D certified simulators and workforce initiatives to prepare pilots for the complexities of modern rotorcraft operations.

In addition to these, Airbus Helicopters is showcasing key upgrades such as the H125 power upgrade and the H125/H130 fuel system upgrade (the Crash Resistant Fuel System). The company is also expanding its portfolio of helicopter parts and products on the AirbusWorld online Marketplace, welcoming new vendors to the platform.

Lastly, the H145 operated by German air rescue service ADAC Luftrettung will take center stage at the exhibition. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to get a close-up look at the H145's advanced features and capabilities.

The European Rotors exhibition serves as a testament to Airbus Helicopters’ multi-mission adaptability, addressing urgent global challenges and emerging market needs in vertical lift solutions. With over 470 helicopters of the H145 family conducting air rescue missions worldwide and more than 1,515 H145 family helicopters in service worldwide, logging a total of over six million flight hours, Airbus Helicopters continues to lead the way in the helicopter industry.

Airbus Helicopters demonstrates its commitment to the aerospace industry by presenting its latest advancements in finance and technology at the European Rotors exhibition. The exhibition showcases the company's efforts in funding sustainable initiatives and developing cutting-edge helicopter training, such as the use of Level D certified simulators.

In the finance sector, notable orders such as up to eight new H145 helicopters for Norwegian Air Ambulance indicate the helicopter's popularity among emergency and medical services. Moreover, Airbus World online Marketplace is expanding its portfolio of helicopter parts and products, including key upgrades like the H125 power upgrade and the H125/H130 fuel system upgrade.
