Historic Berlin Office Renovation Begins in 2023, Set to Last Decade
The renovation of several heritage-listed office buildings of the German Pension Insurance Bund in Berlin-Wilmersdorf is set to begin in February 2023. The project, scheduled to last until 2033, includes sustainability measures and will transform the old facade into a modern entrance area.
The headquarters on the Ruhrstraße, built in 1921, is one of the listed buildings undergoing renovation. The construction work of the first phase is set to be completed in 2028, with the modernization carried out in two construction phases. The first phase will focus on the area north of the Westfälische Straße. The building permit for the renovation has been issued by the responsible building inspection authority.
Employees can expect a renovation lasting around ten years. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by 2033. During the renovation, sustainability measures such as installing solar panels on roofs will be implemented. The old facade will be transformed into a modern entrance area with public offers, and old offices will be redesigned into new collaborative workspaces.
