Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders gather to shape 2025–2026 development plans
Ho Chi Minh City's People's Council began its fifth extraordinary session today, November 14, 2023. The meeting, led by Võ Văn Minh, is set to deliberate 43 policy items and vote on senior positions, aiming to drive the city's development forward.
The session will consider mechanisms for socio-economic development, administrative reforms, budget allocation, public investment, and urban planning. It will also review the city's progress, particularly in social welfare and the new governance model. Challenges such as slow public investment disbursement, transport bottlenecks, and limited private-sector mobilisation will be addressed.
The delegates will elect the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, and other key officials of the city council. Võ Văn Minh, the current chairman, emphasised the critical importance of the meeting for the city's future. The session will also finalise the city's 2025 targets and set development directions for 2026.
The session is expected to conclude later today, with decisions aimed at accelerating growth momentum and improving residents' quality of life. These decisions will help translate national-level resolutions into concrete local actions, shaping Ho Chi Minh City's development trajectory.
