Holzmarkt Spree Hosts Vibrant Día de los Muertos Celebration

The Holzmarkt, situated on the Spree, is hosting a vibrant Día de los Muertos celebration from October 31 to November 2, 2025. The event, organized by the Holzmarkt, promises a joyful blend of Mexican traditions, music, and food, with easy access via public transport.

The Holzmarkt, located near S+U Jannowitzbrücke station, is accessible by various public transport options, including S-Bahn, U-Bahn, and bus services like N40, 300, 165, 265, N60, N65, and 142. During the celebration, an altar or gift table is erected on the market square.

The Day of the Dead event features Mexican traditions, altars, decorated skulls for children, music, dance, and Mexican food. Visitors can enjoy poetry, live music, face painting, performances, and numerous Mexican delicacies. A highlight is the Cumbia Fest concert on October 31 at Säälchen. Those interested can learn how to make calaveritas, small sugar skulls traditionally used as decorations on the Day of the Dead.
