Homeless woman brutally attacked while sleeping near Berlin’s Alexanderplatz
A 43-year-old woman sleeping rough near Alexanderplatz station in central Berlin was attacked in the early hours of Wednesday. The assailant, still unidentified, punched and kicked her before fleeing the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the violent incident.
The attack took place around midnight on Wednesday. A man approached the woman as she slept and tried to steal her sleeping bag. When she resisted, he repeatedly struck her in the head with punches and kicks.
The victim, despite her injuries, managed to keep hold of her belongings. The attacker then ran off before officers arrived. The woman suffered facial injuries but refused medical help.
Detectives from Police Directorate 5’s specialised crime unit are now handling the case. Authorities have described the suspect as an unknown man who remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing, with police searching for the attacker. The woman, though injured, did not require hospital treatment after the assault. Officers continue to appeal for witnesses who may have seen the incident near Alexanderplatz station.
