Honsolgen Faces Major Changes: Chestnut Trees to Fall, Flood Basin Planned

Honsolgen, a town in Buchloe, faces significant changes. An entire avenue of chestnut trees is set to be felled due to disease, while plans for a new flood retention basin and fruit tree planting are underway. Meanwhile, residents voice concerns about energy projects and attend town hall meetings to discuss local issues.

The chestnut blight has led to the decision to fell the entire avenue of chestnut trees in Honsolgen. Fruit trees will replace them, bringing a new touch to the town's landscape.

In a bid to improve local infrastructure, a vitality assessment was conducted with active citizen participation. This involved identifying areas for improvement in Honsolgen and Hausen. The assessment highlighted the need for a flood retention basin in Honsolgen, which is now planned to hold 50,000 cubic meters of water with a dam height of two meters. However, implementation may face delays due to the need to acquire privately owned land along watercourses.

Residents have raised concerns about insufficient public involvement in designating priority areas for wind energy and the planned sewage sludge pyrolysis plant. Over 70 residents attended a town hall meeting at the Honsolgen community center to discuss these issues and other local matters.

Despite these challenges, there's cause for optimism. The newest daycare center in Honsolgen opened last September, offering 15 nursery places and 50 kindergarten spots. Additionally, local businesses in Buchloe plan to invest over €100 million in expansions and modernizations over the coming years.

The town of Buchloe, with a population of 14,301, including 709 residents in Honsolgen, 132 in Hausen, and 1,800 in Lindenberg, is seeing significant developments. While the felling of the chestnut trees and potential delays in the flood retention basin's implementation pose challenges, the new daycare center and planned investments in local businesses offer promising prospects for the future.
