Hornady Family Honored with Legacy Award
The Hornady family received the Legacy Award at the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation’s annual celebration in October 2025. The honour recognised their decades of support for the Nebraska city, from business leadership to charitable giving. Steve Hornady, president of the family-owned ammunition manufacturer, accepted the award on behalf of his relatives.
Hornady Manufacturing Company was founded in 1949 and remains a cornerstone of Grand Island’s economy. The business, still family-run, specialises in ammunition and has gained a reputation for innovation, including its Drag Variability Reduction Technology.
The Legacy Award highlighted the Hornadys’ broader influence beyond industry. Their contributions—through endowments, planned gifts, and civic engagement—were described as woven into the fabric of the community. At the Gift of a Legacy event, Steve Hornady spoke of the family’s pride in being part of Grand Island’s growth.
The award ceremony marked another milestone for a family whose name is synonymous with both manufacturing excellence and local philanthropy. Their ongoing involvement continues to shape opportunities in Grand Island, from economic development to community programmes.
