Hotelier from Ostfildern becomes new head of Hospitality Association - Hotelier Hans-Ulrich Kauderer Elected DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg Chairman Amid Industry Challenges
Hotelier Hans-Ulrich Kauderer has been elected as the new state chairman of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) in Baden-Württemberg. He was unanimously chosen by delegates at the general assembly in Ludwigsburg, succeeding Fritz Engelhardt who was named honorary chairman.
Kauderer, who runs the Hirsch Hotel in Ostfildern-Ruit near Stuttgart with his daughter, takes the helm at a challenging time for the hospitality business. Since 2019, thousands of hospitality businesses have closed in the region, with rural areas particularly hard hit. The sector's revenue has been declining, with traditional restaurants among the worst affected. Kauderer, a trained economist, has been actively involved in DEHOGA on a voluntary basis, most recently serving as its treasurer. He will now lead the association that represents around 12,000 businesses employing approximately 300,000 people and generating annual revenue of around €15 billion. The Hirsch Hotel is located at Ulmer Straße 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Ruit, Germany.
Hans-Ulrich Kauderer's election comes at a critical juncture for the hospitality industry in Baden-Württemberg. With businesses facing economic strain, sharply rising costs, and declining revenue, his leadership will be crucial in navigating these challenging times. Kauderer's experience as a hotelier and his involvement in DEHOGA make him well-positioned to tackle the sector's pressing issues.
