House in Poland might have been struck by a missile, causing damage.
In a surprising turn of events, a Polish air-to-air missile of the type AIM-120 AMRAAM, valued at 850,000 euros, fell on a house in Wyryki on Monday, sparking a conflict between President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The missile, which is presumed to have been fired by a NATO air defense or fighter squadron operating in the region, punched a hole in the roof and fell into a room on the upper floor, causing damage but no injuries. Remarkably, the arming system of the missile worked perfectly, preventing an explosion.
Prime Minister Tusk placed the responsibility for the damage to the house in Wyryki on the originators of the drone provocation, namely Russia. His statement was a sharp reaction to the incident and included a warning to "Hands off Polish soldiers."
The President's office for national security, however, demanded an immediate clarification of the events in Wyryki on Tuesday, emphasising that no information about the incident should be hidden.
The relevant authorities have promised to inform the President and the population after the completion of the investigation. They are yet to release any official statement regarding the incident or the parties involved.
This incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between Poland and Russia, and the future implications remain uncertain. Both the President and the Prime Minister have called for transparency and swift action to resolve the situation.
