Housing Activist Rouzbeh Taheri Runs for Berlin’s Parliament in September

Rouzbeh Taheri, managing director of the nd.coop cooperative, is set to run in Berlin's House of Representatives election this September. The Left Party in Neukölln has backed him as a direct candidate for electoral district 3, marking his first bid for parliamentary office.

Taheri first gained attention through his role in the Expropriate Deutsche Wohnen & Co campaign. His activism helped raise his profile within Berlin's political scene. Now, local Left Party leaders want him to lead their district list in Neukölln.

Reports confirm Taheri previously stood for the Left Party in the 2021 Berlin election. This time, he aims to secure a direct mandate rather than a list position. His candidacy reflects growing support for housing activists within the party.

If elected, Taheri would bring years of housing advocacy into Berlin's parliament. His campaign focuses on Neukölln's district 3, where the Left Party sees him as a strong contender. The September vote will decide whether his political ambitions translate into a seat.
