Hryvnia Depreciates Slightly in October 2025, Official Data Shows
The hryvnia has experienced a slight depreciation in October 2025, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. This change, however, is not as dramatic as some online claims suggest.
The NBU's official exchange rates for October 28, 2025, show a minor weakening of the hryvnia. The 2025 calendar shows that the dollar increased by just three kopecks, while the euro rose by 21 kopecks. This depreciation is attributed to a mix of economic and seasonal factors, including a minor devaluation.
Contrary to some online claims, the hryvnia's depreciation is not as severe as it was in 2022 and 2023. The rapid appreciation of the dollar against the hryvnia during those years was primarily due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the dollar has remained relatively stable in the 41–42 UAH range.
Fact-checking teams, such as the VoxCheck Team, have confirmed that claims of a sharp surge in the US dollar exchange rate in Ukraine at the end of October 2025 are false. These claims are often spread through sensationalist headlines and clickbait posts, aiming to inflate views. It is essential to rely on official sources for accurate financial information.
