Remains Lay Undiscovered for Years; Cause of Death Still Unknown
Human remains of three children found by dog walker in Memphis woods
A man in Memphis, Tennessee, accidentally stumbled upon human remains while walking his dog. He discovered a skull in the woods and initially assumed it belonged to an animal, but police called to the scene quickly determined the bones were human.
Authorities then conducted a more thorough search of the area. Weeks later, another skull and bone fragments were found nearby—this time inside a drainage pipe. Investigators have since recovered a total of 14 bones, according to official reports.
Forensic analysis revealed that the remains belong to three children, aged between three and seven. Preliminary estimates suggest the bones had been in the forest for several years. How the children died and under what circumstances remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier reports noted that the mysterious remains of around fifty infants were discovered in a cemetery in Trinidad and Tobago. The presence of identification markers on adult remains has only deepened the mystery, which authorities must now unravel amid a broader wave of violence in the country.
