Humboldt Gymnasium fire contained after roof panels ignite during repairs
A fire ignited in the roof of Humboldt Gymnasium’s pedagogical center on Thursday evening. The blaze produced heavy smoke but caused little structural damage. No one was inside the building at the time.
The incident began when compressed wood panels, installed just two days earlier, caught fire. These panels, made from shavings, smoldered and filled the area with thick smoke. Firefighters arrived promptly and brought the situation under control.
The building itself suffered minimal harm. A protective covering, laid down for ongoing roof repairs, helped contain the damage. The school, originally constructed in 1966, is currently undergoing maintenance work.
Authorities are now examining the extent of the fire’s impact. A specialist will investigate the exact cause in the coming days. Meanwhile, a deep clean of the affected area is scheduled for next week.
School activities are set to return to normal after the holidays. The incident caused no injuries, and repairs will address any lingering effects. The investigation into the fire’s origin remains ongoing.
