Hundreds Protest in Berlin, Demand Germany Sanction Israel Over Gaza Actions
Hundreds of Palestinians assembled outside the German Foreign Office in Berlin yesterday, calling for sanctions against Israel. Police maintained order, preventing protesters from entering the ministry.
The demonstration, titled 'Solidarity with the Sumud Flotilla - Stop the Gaza Genocide - No arms deliveries to Israel', voiced opposition to Israel's actions in Gaza. Protesters demanded that Germany impose sanctions on Israel, a request the federal government has thus far rejected.
At the European level, discussions on potential sanctions against Israel are currently led by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Despite the German government's refusal to impose sanctions, the protest highlighted growing international concern over the situation in Gaza. The European Commission continues to evaluate possible measures.
