Hundreds rally in Detmold to demand freedom for Syria and oppose Assad
Around 400 people took to the streets of Detmold on Sunday to demand freedom for Syria and protest against President Bashar al-Assad. The demonstration remained orderly throughout, with no reports of disruption or conflict. The protest began at roughly 1 pm on 8 December 2024. Participants assembled near the state theatre before marching through the city centre. Their route concluded with a stationary rally on the market square, where speeches and chants continued until 3 pm. The demonstration concluded peacefully after two hours. All participants dispersed without confrontation, and no arrests or disturbances were recorded. Police confirmed the protest remained calm from start to finish.
