Hünenberg scraps early voting for 2026 presidential election
Hünenberg Municipality has decided to end early voting for the 2026 presidential election. The change follows a revision of cantonal election laws and will take effect with the vote on March 8 that year. Only a small fraction of voters had used the service in recent years. The early voting booth was open for just one hour on the Thursday and Friday before election day. Despite this, turnout remained very low, with only 0.5% of eligible voters using the option. The discontinuation removes a little-used voting method in Hünenberg. Voters will now rely on postal ballots or in-person voting on election day. The change reflects broader adjustments to cantonal voting procedures.
