Hünxe Fire Department: Change in leadership of the voluntary fire department in Hünxe

The Hünxe Volunteer Fire Department has announced a change in leadership. Jens Förster will take over as head of the department on December 19, replacing Stephan Hinz-Sobottka. The transition follows years of service and preparation by Förster within the brigade.

Stephan Hinz-Sobottka is stepping down from his role as head of the fire department. However, he will remain with the team, now serving as deputy chief. His experience will continue to support operations in a new capacity.

Jens Förster has been a dedicated member of the Hünxe Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. Over time, he took on greater responsibilities, moving from basic training to leadership positions in emergency operations. His qualifications and hands-on experience led to his appointment as the new head. Marc Vinschen will stay on as the second deputy chief. Together with Hinz-Sobottka, he will assist Förster in managing the department’s activities. The leadership team will now combine long-standing expertise with fresh direction.

The official handover will occur on December 19. Förster’s promotion reflects his decades of commitment and growing leadership within the brigade. The department’s structure ensures continuity, with both deputy chiefs retaining their roles alongside the new head.
