A ceremony in the Republic of Komi has honoured workers for their professional achievements. Among the recipients was Irina Gerko
The event took place as part of the 2025 celebrations, which Russia marked as the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. In Komi, the year was also dedicated to local heroes. Rostislav Goldstein, head of the republic, spoke to the attendees before the awards were handed out.
Teachers, medical staff, and industrial workers were among those recognised. Doctors, nurses, machinists, and fitters received state honours alongside educators. Gerko stood out for her decades of work in technical education and her commitment to training future professionals. No other recipients of the Medal of the Order For Merit to the Fatherland were named in the presidential decree for 2025. The ceremony highlighted contributions across multiple sectors in the region.
The awards ceremony in Komi celebrated individuals who have made a lasting impact in their fields. Gerko’s medal reflects her dedication to education, while other workers were honoured for their roles in healthcare and industry. The event closed with recognition of their efforts during a year focused on national and regional pride.
