Independent candidate Jürgen Morell launches Seesen mayoral campaign with 36 years of experience

Jürgen Morell has officially entered the race for mayor of Seesen. The independent candidate submitted his electoral proposal at the town hall, backed by the required signatures. He now plans an intensive campaign ahead of the September 13 election to reach voters across the city and its districts.

Morell currently leads Seesen's citizens' services office, overseeing a team of over 330 staff. His bid for mayor follows a 36-year career in local government, most recently in Kassel.

To qualify as an independent candidate, Morell needed 160 signatures—five for each of the 32 council seats. His campaign will focus on engaging residents in all parts of Seesen, including its ten Stadtteile. These range from Mechtshausen, known for its lower property prices, to Münchehof, where housing costs are highest.

Morell's experience spans decades in public administration. Before joining Seesen, he worked for the city of Kassel, building a career in civic services. His current role involves managing one of the largest departments in the local authority. The election takes place on September 13, with Morell aiming to connect with voters through multiple channels. His campaign will cover issues relevant to both the city centre and outlying districts like Rhüden, Kirchberg, and Bilderlahe.

Morell's candidacy is now formally registered, meeting the signature requirement for independents. His campaign will run until polling day, with a focus on direct engagement across Seesen's diverse neighbourhoods. The outcome will determine whether his long public service background translates into electoral support.
