India adds three new seaports as official immigration checkpoints
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has expanded its list of immigration checkpoints by adding three new seaports. These locations will now serve as official entry and exit points for international travellers. The move follows earlier designations of airports, land crossings, and other ports across the country.
The newly designated immigration posts include Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala, Hazira Port in Gujarat, and Pipavav Port, also in Gujarat. Oversight of these ports will be managed by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), working alongside the Federal Police and local harbour authorities.
With these additions, the MHA continues to broaden its network of immigration checkpoints. The three new seaports will now handle international passenger movements under coordinated supervision. This brings the total number of designated immigration posts to over 100 across various transport hubs.
