India Praises Egypt's Role in Middle East Peace, Launches Strategic Dialogue
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Egypt's leadership in the Middle East peace process during the first-ever India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue. He also appreciated President el-Sisi's role in hosting the recent Sharm-el-Sheikh Summit, expressing hope for a better future.
Jaishankar's visit marked a milestone in India-Egypt relations, with the launch of the Strategic Dialogue in 2023 elevating their ties. During the talks, areas of new cooperation were identified, including digital public infrastructure, fintech, pharma, space, startups, and green technologies. India, consistent in its support for a two-state solution in the Middle East, also expressed its commitment to enhancing capacity building and strengthening Palestinian institutions.
Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, who has held the position since July 3, 2024, led the talks. He has been active in diplomatic discussions, including assisting in the evacuation of Indian nationals during regional unrest in June 2025 and expressing solidarity after the Pahalgam terror attack.
The India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue has opened new avenues for cooperation, with both nations committed to working together in various sectors. Jaishankar's visit and the successful dialogue further strengthen the bond between the two countries.
