India’s Constitution Day 2023 to Feature Nine New Language Translations
India will celebrate Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, on 26 November. The annual event marks the adoption of the Constitution in 1949. This year’s observance will feature new translations of the document in nine languages, including Nepali for the first time.
The main ceremony will take place in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building, now called Samvidhan Sadan. President Droupadi Murmu will attend as the chief guest and deliver an address. She will also read out the Preamble to the Constitution during the event.
The event will bring together key officials and showcase the Constitution’s reach in multiple regional languages. The newly translated versions aim to make the document more accessible across different communities. The celebrations will conclude with the President’s address and the release of the commemorative booklet.
