India's New MyPNG-D Portal Simplifies LPG Connection Surrender in One Click

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has launched a new online portal to simplify the surrender of LPG connections. Called MyPNG-D, the platform went live on March 27, 2026, allowing users to cancel their connections from home. Within a single day, nearly 1,800 consumers had already used the service.

The portal enables customers to surrender their LPG connection using either their registered mobile number or LPG ID. This move is part of a broader government effort to promote cleaner cooking fuels and improve the distribution of LPG connections. Officials hope the system will encourage more households to switch to piped natural gas (PNG).

The initiative targets those still relying on traditional fuel sources, which are often less efficient and more polluting. By streamlining the surrender process, the government aims to free up LPG connections for families in greater need. The response so far has been swift, with 1,797 consumers using the portal on its first day.

The MyPNG-D Portal represents a step toward better managing LPG resources and expanding access to cleaner energy. As more consumers surrender unused connections, the government expects to reallocate them to underserved households. The system's early uptake suggests growing public engagement with the initiative.
