IndiGo Restarts Kolkata to Guangzhou Flights, Boosting India-China Ties
IndiGo has restarted direct flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou, China, after a hiatus of over five years. The first flight, an A320 Neo with a high passenger occupancy rate, took off at 10 pm on its maiden voyage, marking a significant boost to business and tourism ties between the two nations.
The flight, which operates daily, is expected to reach Guangzhou at 4.30 am local time, completing a journey of four-and-a-half hours. This service reinforces Kolkata's status as a major international aviation hub in Eastern India.
IndiGo has also announced plans to commence flights from Delhi to Guangzhou on November 10. Meanwhile, Air India is set to resume flights between Delhi and Shanghai soon, with China Eastern Airlines scheduled to start services on November 9, 2025, using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The revival of these direct routes is anticipated to strengthen economic and cultural ties between India and China. With a seating capacity of 186 passengers, the IndiGo flight from Kolkata offers a convenient and efficient connection between the two cities.
