Indore mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav conducted a surprise inspection near Teen Imli Bridge, following a late-night complaint. He found a newly constructed road being dug up again, despite being only half done, raising concerns about planning and departmental accountability.
Acting swiftly, the mayor called for additional commissioner Abhay Rajangaokar, zonal officer Ateeq Khan, corporator Rajendra Rathore, and representatives from the unnamed consultant firm involved in the stormwater drain installation. The mayor expressed dissatisfaction over the digging, stating that it was done without proper planning. The inspection revealed that the consultant firm had violated building regulations during the installation of stormwater drains in Indore.
The mayor emphasized the need for departmental accountability in supervision. He directed the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) to take strict action against the consultant agency, including blacklisting and terminating their services. He also ordered penalties on the contractor responsible for the road's condition and ensured the culprits would pay for the damages.
The mayor's surprise inspection highlighted the importance of proper planning and coordination between departments. The unnamed consultant firm faces severe consequences for violating building regulations, and the contractor will be penalized for the road's poor condition. The mayor's actions serve as a reminder that such negligence will not be tolerated in Indore.
