Influencer charged after headbutting charity worker at Glasgow shelter

A 49-year-old influencer has been charged after allegedly headbutting a charity worker at a Glasgow homeless shelter. The incident took place late on Thursday, April 30, 2023, following a dispute over a photo request. The altercation began just after 11pm at Homeless Project Scotland’s shelter on Glassford Street. The man, who claimed to be a marine, reportedly grew aggressive after volunteers refused his request for a photo. Witnesses said he issued threats before assaulting one of the workers.

Police were already stretched thin, responding to a high volume of calls in Glasgow City Centre. As a result, volunteers and vulnerable guests had to wait over 30 minutes for officers to arrive. During this time, some guests were left outside while the situation unfolded.

Staff from the nearby House of Gods Hotel arrived at the scene and asked if their guest—the accused influencer—could return to the premises. Despite the assault, the request was made before police took action.

At 11.38pm, officers arrested the man at the shelter. He now faces charges in connection with the alleged attack and will appear in court at a later date. The charity worker involved in the incident was left shaken but did not require hospital treatment. Homeless Project Scotland has since reviewed its safety protocols for late-night operations. The case will proceed through the legal system in the coming weeks.
